Q & A with Diamonique

Q: Why Did You (Diamonique) Become a Surrogate?

A: At a young age, I thought I could not have children, but was thankfully given the wrong information. My mother brought surrogacy to my attention when I got pregnant with my daughter, and I have been very passionate about it since.

Q: In just a few sentences, describe what being a surrogate has meant in your life?

A: Surrogacy has meant the world to me, I am so grateful that I am able to help families grow in a way that they once thought was impossible.

Q: What piece of advice (or top 3 pieces of advice) would you give to someone who is becoming a surrogate?

A: My first piece of advice is to never rush anything. Sometimes delays happen for a reason that is outside of our control, and we need to listen to that. Second, you are strong, and you can get through anything. Even if things get hard, get back up and keep moving forward. And my last piece of advice would be to remember how amazing you are and that you are a gift to the families that you will help

Q: What piece of advice (or top 3 pieces of advice) would you give to someone who is growing their own family through surrogacy?

A: (1) Go into your journey with an open mind and heart. Trusting another person to carry your child is emotional, and our team and surrogates appreciate that and want to make you as comfortable as possible. Be open to trusting your surrogate and forming a strong connection with her throughout the surrogacy journey. (2) Trust your team. Sometimes it’s hard to give control over to other people. But trust that our team is highly experienced, and surrogacy coordination and having babies is something that we do regularly, and we are excited to help you grow your family. If you have any questions, always ask; we want to ensure we support you throughout your journey. (3) Realize that things do not always go smoothly. The first embryo transfers might not take, for example. Do not get discouraged; know we will keep trying to make your dream come true. Both our team and our surrogates will do everything we can to grow your family and see you holding your baby/babies.
