Q & A with Hannah

Q: Why Did You (Hannah) Become a Surrogate?

A: I became a surrogate because I wanted to give someone the chance to experience the joy of parenthood. I’ve always felt called to help others, and after having my own children, I realized what a gift that truly is. Being able to carry for someone else is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.

Q: In just a few sentences, describe what being a surrogate has meant in your life?

A: Being a surrogate has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. It’s shown me the true power of love, sacrifice, and connection. Helping create a family for someone else has brought me a deep sense of purpose and pride that I’ll carry with me forever.

Q: What piece of advice (or top 3 pieces of advice) would you give to someone who is becoming a surrogate?

A: (1) Advocate for yourself – Make sure you discuss your needs, comfort level, and boundaries with your coordinator so that you and your coordinator can advocate for you. Your voice matters. (2) Have a strong support system – Whether it’s family, friends, or a surrogacy community, having people who understand and support you makes a huge difference. (3) Make sure the match feels right – Take the time to connect with intended parents who align with your values and expectations. A good match makes the journey so much smoother.

Q: What piece of advice (or top 3 pieces of advice) would you give to someone who is growing their own family through surrogacy?

A: (1) Trust the process and your team. Surrogacy can be emotional and unpredictable, but a good agency, coordinator, and support system can help guide you every step of the way. (2) Build a relationship with your surrogate – Even small efforts to connect can make the journey more meaningful and memorable for both of you. (3) Be open, honest, and flexible – Communication and understanding go a long way. Things might not always go as planned, but staying open helps create a strong, positive partnership.
