Q & A with Samantha

Q: Why Did You (Samantha) Become a Surrogate?

A: I became a surrogate because I wanted to help another family have a child. I truly believe that anyone who wants to be a parent should have that opportunity. My own family has experienced loss due to fertility struggles, and it meant so much to be able to support another family in such a meaningful way.

Q: In just a few sentences, describe what being a surrogate has meant in your life.

A: Surrogacy changed my life just as much as it changed my intended parents’ lives. Seeing the joy in their eyes when they met their daughter for the first time is something I’ll never forget. We’ve kept in touch, built a friendship, and I still love watching their daughter grow. It was an emotional and rewarding experience I will always carry with me.

Q: What piece of advice (or top 3 pieces of advice) would you give to someone who is becoming a surrogate?

A: Do your research. Understand every step of the process before you begin.

Go into your match call prepared. Make sure you agree on the important things and that your visions align.

Be patient. The process can feel slow at times, but once it gets going, it flies by. Trust your coordinators, they’re there to support you the whole way.

Q: What piece of advice (or top 3 pieces of advice) would you give to someone who is growing their own family through surrogacy?

A: Be present, open, and kind. This journey is emotional for everyone involved, and having a good connection with your surrogate can make it even more meaningful. Build that relationship if it happens naturally, and lean on your coordinators for support; they’re here to help guide you every step of the way.
